The grace period in Florida

A delinquent fee of $25 plus the regular renewal fee restores a license within the first renewal cycle after expiration. Beyond that, the license becomes null and void and you must reapply.

Your Florida restoration checklist

  1. Complete any missing CE — including the required HIV/AIDS 2 hours and specific topic requirements.
  2. Log in to MyFloridaLicense and submit a delinquent renewal with all accrued fees.
  3. Upload CE records to CE Broker if DBPR requests proof (CE Broker is how Florida tracks CE for most professions).
  4. Wait for the status to update to "Current, Active" before returning to client work.

When you can no longer restore

If the license becomes "null and void" (typically after one full cycle past expiration), you must reapply from scratch as a new applicant, including full training hours if Florida can no longer verify continuous practice.

Common traps at restoration

  • Missing the HIV/AIDS 2-hour course specifically — this is a recurring audit failure.
  • Paying the renewal fee online and starting work before DBPR clears the status.
  • Not realizing the salon's group expiration means the license may have lapsed earlier than expected.
